I started Green Chair Marketing Group in 2000. I had been working with a non-profit for 16 years before that and wanted to spread my wings a bit. I designed websites as part of my work for five years before that so I felt comfortable building websites. My original intention was to get a full-time job and do a little web design on the side. The full-time job I got was short lived because the project I was working on ran out of money and time.In the meantime, I teamed up with a couple computer network companies that had lots of clients who needed websites. When the full-time gig went kaput, I got busy building websites for all these other companies. I was now an accidental entrepreneur.In 2001, I started getting into search engine optimization (SEO) and found it a great way to help my clients. SEO has been a foundation of my work since then.My wife, two daughters, and I moved to Denver in 2002 to be near my wife’s family. We’ve loved being in the Denver area and we’re here to stay.I’ve been very involved in the Denver digital marketing community since moving here. I’ve been a part of a small group of digital marketers who do presentations on a variety of topics to help businesses understand how digital marketing can help small businesses gain more visibility on the search engines.I recently decided to start focusing on helping local businesses. For the last couple years, I’ve been very I’ve been very involved with a local concrete company. I’ve been going out to appointments to do estimating, managing a few of the projects, doing some cleanup, and even making runs to the dump with my pickup. And I’ve answered hundreds of phone calls.I appreciate how hard it is to run a business — doing sales, employee management, administration, marketing, etc. — all the fun stuff that comes with running your own business.
